Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille in a Shootout to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the season-opening cup on 14 different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the showdown between the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger found the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side struck twice late to take a surprise advantage. First, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital equaliser in the final moments to force the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving decisive attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to complete a convincing penalty victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 years.
